Andrew Walpole (Material Department) June 2002:
FTIR reflectance Spectroscopy was used to find the refractive index and thickness of a layer of anodised Aluminum on a Ti alloy substrate. This system has potential use as a new bone prosthesis. Filling of the porous anodised Aluminum with silica was also investigated.
